If you want small images, just use buildah. ctr=$(buildah from scratch) mnt=$(buildah mount $ctr) COPY/DnF/make install into $mnt buildah config ... $ctr buildah commit $ctr NEWIMAGE buildah push NEWIMAGE CONTAINERREGGISTY...
If you want to build off of base images, you can probably create them with buildah also.
