I'm interested in this. I have noticed that for the past (several months?) my system would freeze at apparently random times, while disk goes busy, for periods of 20-30 seconds. This did not used to happen. I have a pretty fast machine, with 2GB ram and raid0 7500rpm drives. I wonder if this patch would help. I wonder why this performance degradation, which I'm sure did not occur until sometime within the past, say, 6 months?
