I've been manually partitioning physical machines that I install Fedora
on for exactly this reason.

Similar to moving to VMs, it is especially useful when you need to
replace hardware (where the new hardware uses a different firmware), as
you can just put the drives in the new machine. Under the current
automatic partitioning, a switch from BIOS to EFI requires
repartitioning (both changing partition table type *and* partition sizes
to make room for ESP), which may even be "impossible" if the system is
on XFS.

I would greatly appreciate a move to a uniform GPT+EF02+EF00
partitioning default with a shared boot loader config.
