I think the top two memory soaking items are the two gnome-shell
instances, one for gdm and one for the user, concurrently. And the
lack of zram.service being enabled on liveOS installations, where DVD
and netinstall installs have it enabled.

Using boot param 'systemd.wants=zram' solves most instances for me,
but definitely the memory requirements need to be bumped. I don't
think Workstation is going to work in a 1G RAM VM.
