You know, the different ports use different javascript engines (well, basically AFAIK only chromium does...), they use different network libraries (libcurl vs. libsoup on linux), different font rendering engine, ... Plus, this effort should be carried over together with upstream. Plus there's WebKit2 development going on (not sure what stage it is at right now, though) and the ports will switch to it sooner or later, so this would be IMHO a better starting point.
