No idea how that could be an analogy! Obviously, it would not matter at
all, if the programmer deleted lines actually or commented them out or
wrapped them in an #if 0 block, provided that the compiled code would
work correctly then. There may even be a good reason why not to delete
lines, such as giving a co-developer a chance to do proof-reading and
bug-hunting before deciding whether to delete anything or whether to
fix it.
