Well, somebody tested on a Mac with macOS/OS X, otherwise we wouldn't
be having this conversation and the release with "broken" mac support
would have been released.

But I think you do some selective quoting here. What I tried to convey
was that the effort of a lot of people during many years to be able to
install on macs would be discarded just because of one regression bug.
If you are going to remove functionality/hardware support you should
at least announce it someway otherwise people (users and contributors)
will lose faith in your project.
