SHM configuration was removed last April and these days SHM is only used for monitoring the hardware state if needed. http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-input-synaptics/commit/?id=c09a3d50e995302ec08c5d5f8c679148613e1656 is the last commit in that series.
