How about use shortcut key 'a' for this, like Jupyter/Ipython does?
And I think it's good idea to reserve ctrl-alt-'n' and ctrl-alt-'p' for
something related to paragraph focus,
while ctrl-'n', ctrl-'p' moves cursor.
