Though, not having them linked from any of the ToCs will almost certainly reduce their pageranks. Maybe the compromise is to have a "Deprecated Configuration Files" section, so that they're still linked but not muddying up the list of current files. I would probably reintroduce a stub for the old stats.config.xml pointing to metrics.config if I go this route.
