Yeah, those docs are wrong. Use trafficserver (no underscores) from the distro
to stop / start it.
Cool. I'd like to run this under a special userid, traffic. When I run "make
install" do I have to do any followup work?
As long as you configured it properly (./configure --with-user=traffic)
and then do "sudo make install" it should work. But try it :).
