in order to simplify release announcements, I'm thinking of changing our
release notes summaries (on the website etc.) to use the format
generated by Jira. E.g.
https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/ReleaseNote.jspa?projectId=12310963&version=12315574
I think it's useful to keep a longer description on the bugs / fixes /
additions in the CHANGES file as we do now. And we should continue to
update and ship the full CHANGES file as part of the actual source
distribution. But, to make the bugs usable in a release notes summary
(like above), please make the Subject of the bugs you file (and close)
as descriptive as possible (but still a one-liner).
