Paul Querna commented on TS-15:
-------------------------------

recent versions of httpd have used the 'daemon' user/group by default, which
AFAIK, exists on... every unixy OS?

> User nobody / group nobody might not exist

> The user nobody, or group nobody, might not exist on some system, causing
> "make install" to fail. We should check for some common alternatives here,
> and/or provide switches to configure to specify which user and group to use
> (two switches). For example, on Ubuntu the user "nobody" is a member of the
> group "nogroup", causing our install breaks.
