In my analysis of public data I found 243 committees with 1,220 projects and
19,570 releases. This is the aggregate of the past five years of projects
detected by a very rough heuristic in Subversion log messages and mailing list
vote emails. The project data especially is very messy, despite code to tidy up
the most common irregularities. To determine how accurate the project count is,
I manually analysed a random subset of 20 projects. Of these, 19 were certainly
projects and 1 apparently a project. There were 20 duplicate projects.
Therefore after deduplication we would expect approximately 610 projects
detected by this heuristic in the past five years of data.
