You need libxft-bgra. It's a bug in xft. Read https://git.suckless.org/st/file/FAQ.html for explanation.
Notice that instead of disabling as in FAQ you can install this fork of xft which is what I recommend, because it'll also work on dwm, dmenu etc. Regards, mat
