OMG! Replying to myself: I use the client libxcb, which has inapropriate and disgusting python code generators not to mention the horrible gnu autotools.
For such basic command line, I should have connected to the xserver unix socket and should have sent directly the request. This tool is not suckless in its context. Disregard it. sorry, -- Sylvain
