Thanks for pointing out the similarity of my patch for dvtm to the attachaside patch for dwm. This will make its behavior more obvious to people who know dwm. I don't know or use dwm myself, so I cannot say whether it is the same behavior, but if you say it is, then I believe you. Regarding the name of the patch, it doesn't really have a name currently. The commit message describes what it does. But if it is posted on a webpage for dvtm patches, or it is included as a branch in git, I am fine with the name being attachaside.
