Hi Sylvain! You must be new here. People on this list mainly lurk watching progress of suckless software. There are two kinds of threads here: 1. Patches and development of suckless software - strictly technical. 2. The rest - recommendations/questions for/about suckless software/distros/protocols/licenses - nothing constructive came out of them ever.
Your thread is one of the rest. Most prominent and active members of this community have basic approach of "shut up and show me the code". Licenses are not code. This issue may be of highest importance for you, but it seems that you are quite alone among this community. Most people here want suckless software - written in C and Shell not in legal english. MIT license is good enough. I share similar views on GPL as Rob Landley and I belive that many members of this community, which don't like GPL share similar views (maybe without Android sentiment). Few links: https://archive.org/download/OhioLinuxfest2013/24-Rob_Landley-The_Rise_and_Fall_of_Copyleft.mp3 This relates with me, but I suppose less with others (GPL good for Linux kernel): http://landley.net/notes-2008.html#14-12-2008 http://landley.net/notes-2011.html#15-08-2011 http://landley.net/notes-2011.html#16-12-2011 Here is quite cool idea about patentless public domain: http://landley.net/notes-2014.html#10-04-2014 http://landley.net/notes-2014.html#19-04-2014 If you would like to counter with arguments or links - don't bother. You're the one asking for information. With regards, Hadrian Węgrzynowski.
