The reason I switched javascript on default is… quite embarrassing. I use compiled form git surf with debian unstable libraries, and with javascript I experience strange crushes. For example if I follow a link from wikipædia page. I have no idea what is broken. It is certainly not surf. The same happens with Midori. s.
