Well nobody uses bourne shell (that thing with U+0060 for COMSUBs and ^ instead of | as pipe character) any more. Welcome to the 21ₛₜ century. Although I freely admit that POSIX shell also sucks and requires to fork’n’exec often. Just use Korn Shell. Any (modern) Korn Shell – i.e. mksh or the original AT&T ksh93. bye, //mirabilos -- FWIW, I'm quite impressed with mksh interactively. I thought it was much *much* more bare bones. But it turns out it beats the living hell out of ksh93 in that respect. I'd even consider it for my daily use if I hadn't wasted half my life on my zsh setup. :-) -- Frank Terbeck in #!/bin/mksh
