Thanks for the patch, it improves the startup time. This still does not solve the ugliness of fontconfig and what crap the whole Linux graphics stack is. X11: pango on top of cairo on top of fontconfig and xft on top of x11. Plan 9: libdraw Paper: just works Sincerely, Christoph Lohmann
