Hey,
Although in my opinion this may seem really impratical, some X sessions are not running window managers of any sort, or the window manager may not visually provide window title information for kiosk-like machines or other reasons...Although you have a good point, and it is easy to hide via the config.h file. There is an option that sets the width of it (default is 2px), you just have to set it to zero.
