Although I wrote my own process monitor (http://github.com/jeffwar/utop) with vi key bindings, since I found it annoying that I kept having to use the arrow keys in htop
I have exactly the same issue with utop as I have with htop. I guess I should rather adopt vmstat and ps.
However, utop seems like a nice piece of software.
