I think the offending code is line 1600 in dwm.c. Instead of unmapping hidden windows, dwm simply moves them two screen widths to the right. Presumably here it reaches some kind of limit and X refuses to allow its right edge to be so far to the right, so it gets stuck and covers the tags on which it is meant to be hidden. cls
