If you have a vim-like interface to Chrome, the best way to edit text online is jsvi[0]. It need some improvement but works quite good. OTOH, Chrome will *never* allow the extensions to run local binary code like FireFox does. You'll have to use the NPAPI plugin to achieve this goal.
