I think you have a widescreen, well, its sometimes can be tiresome a bit, but such positioning saves a lot of screen space. You can make tabs(in the taskbar) like (shift + Mod4 + t) > then you write a name of a tab you want, and current active screen become a tab in the taskbar. As alternative you can try (shift + Mod4 + l) keys to make column layout. Try it out.
