Thanks for driving this!

Regarding merging, I guess it depends on how big the change revision will
be and whether it includes any unrelated or sequential changes that make
sense to keep as a sequence, but I can't really form an opinion until I
study it :-)

When you feel that the branch is ready for review, please post a heads up
here...
