Have you looked at issue #890? 1. It has patches for the first step in implementing this feature (well, against Subversion 1.2.0). There is no response as to whether these patches have been rejected (and the reason why), or they are plainly ignored. 2. In the same issue, there is a reference to keyword substitution implementation used by FreeBSD. Again, no further description as to why this implementation was not acceptable, etc. Given these two examples, I am somewhat afraid to invest my time into learning Subversion internals and coming up with such changes only to have them rot in the issue tracker indefinitely.
