I suppose that I also see them only when I hover my mouse for a while. The problem is that my mouse is always in the browser window while I am reading, and the mouse is almost always stationary. That translates to: the mouse is almost always hovering over something in the window. On most web pages, the mouse is almost always hovering over something harmless (such as some text or white space) which does not make the browser pop up a tooltip. One the new subversion.apache.org web page, most of the text that a naive user would expect to be harmless is actually inside a <div> which has a title attribute, which makes the browser pop up a tooltip. On the plus side, something that had previously annoyed me about my browser turns into an advantage: I was previously annoyed by the tooltips disappearing after a few seconds when I actully wanted to read the text in the tooltip, but on the subversion.apache.org web site I am pleased that the unwanted tooltip disappears after a while. --apb (Alan Barrett)
