My memory may be fuzzy, but I think the protocol is if you give up on creating
a release you have to restore the version, but while a release is being
attempted and a Maven release branch is in use, the dev branch is moved to the
next version (plus SNAPSHOT).

If the new changes to the distribution profile have bugs in handling a version
change, those should probably be fixed in the dev branch unless it affects
creation of the release.

Yishay has been asking me questions so I know the release branch is in use and
he's working on a release. Other volunteers are welcome to try to fix the dev
branch builds.

My 2 cents,
-Alex

    Yishay,

When I was working on release whenever I had session with it - at the end
of my work I was bringing repository back to the original state. Please if
you could make it happen similar.

    Thanks,
