Yes. "Help with forgotten passwords" is a missing feature in Roller.
Thanks for posting two good alternative solutions. Personally, I think
solution #1 is acceptable, widely used and the best option for
existing sites (whose users have not provided secret question
answers).

Hello,

I can't see any forget password? link in the roller,
does it exist?

If not, there can be a forget password? link in the
login page that will be used to create a new password
for a user who forgets his/her password (as it is in
most of the sites). The workflow can be as follows (2
possible solutions that comes to my mind):

solution 1:

  - a user clicks to the forget password? link
  - the user enters his/her mail address (it must be
the one used in roller) or username
  - roller sends a mail to the user to ask whether
he/she really wants a new password. ( may be someone
who knows the mail address of this user clicks the
forget password link? and enters this user's mail
address. )
  - if user clicks the link (link contains a unique
identifer for password request for this user) that
exists in the sent mail, a new random password is
generated and send to the user via mail.

solution 2:

  - a user clicks to the forget password? link
  - the user enters his/her mail address (it must be
the one used in roller) or username
  - roller asks the answer of the secret question
(this will be obtained from the user when the user
registers to the system)
  - if user give correct answer to the secret
question, then a new random password is generated and
send to the user via mail.
