The Apache BookKeeper team is proud to announce Apache BookKeeper version 4.9.0.
Apache BookKeeper is a scalable, fault-tolerant, and low-latency storage service optimized for real-time workloads. It has been used for a fundamental service to build reliable services. It is also the log segment store for Apache DistributedLog and the message store for Apache Pulsar. This is the 16th release of the Apache BookKeeper. The 4.9.0 release incorporates hundreds of bug fixes, improvements, and features since previous major release, 4.8.0, which was released four months ago. It is a new milestone in Apache BookKeeper community. There are a few big changes around metadata management, such as refactoring ledger metatadata in ledger handle to make it immutable, storing ledger metadata in binary format and a new metadata driver implementation based on Etcd. Additionally, there are huge improvements around memory management, tooling, and documentation.
