---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Wood, Wayne (WP) <wayne.w...@worldpay.com> Date: Thu, Feb 20, 2025 at 4:17 PM Subject: Apache POI issue To: apa...@apache.org <apa...@apache.org> Hi, We are currently having an issue that is just like this one with our EPPlus DLL library: Bad Signature BadReadException On Valid Excel File · Issue #605 · EPPlusSoftware/EPPlus <https://github.com/EPPlusSoftware/EPPlus/issues/605> Where an excel file is created by Apache POI software through an IBM library/program and is somehow having the file corrupted by the creation process, so that it can’t be opened by EPPlus v4.5 and lower. The error: The *OfficeOpenXml.Packaging.Ionic.Zip.BadReadException with the message “Bad signature (0x0000041D) at position 0x0000017C” indicates that there’s an issue with the signature or format of the Excel file you’re trying to read*. We have a workaround that includes upgrading EPPlus but these higher versions require a commercial license when greater than v4.5. Before we do so, we were wondering if this problem was on the radar of the people maintaining the code for the Apache POI project. As well as if there is an expected timeline of the fix, so that we know how long to commit to this commercial license.
