Our releases are usually every 3-4 months and we just had one. What you could
do:
get a snapshot (in a few hours) at
[https://repository.apache.org/content/groups/snapshots/org/apache/pdfbox/pdfbox-app/2.0.18-SNAPSHOT/]
or a workaround: try saving your file as a PNG and reloading it. Or copy your
image into an ARGB image, i.e. make sure that {{image.getType() !=
BufferedImage.TYPE_BYTE_GRAY && image.getType() !=
BufferedImage.TYPE_BYTE_BINARY}}
