Resolution: Fixed
done for now; here's what remains:
The remaining open items are:
# *{{JOIN_FORM_FIELDS_MODE}}* still delegates to the legacy renaming,
contradicting its Javadoc. Either implement the join or add a line to the
Javadoc saying it currently behaves like legacy mode.
# *Leftover struct-parent keys in optimized mode.* Unverified: do cloned pages
keep {{/StructParents}} and {{/StructParent}} when no structure tree is merged?
Legacy mode strips them (PDFBOX-4429). Merging a tagged PDF in optimized mode
and inspecting the output will tell you.
# {*}Larger design gaps{*}, none a bug under the current contract: duplicate
IDs in {{{}mergeIDTree{}}}, {{MarkInfo}} for mixed tagged and untagged input,
AcroForm {{{}/DR{}}}, {{/DA}} and {{{}/NeedAppearances{}}}, and password
support.
Item 1 is the one most likely to surprise a caller, so I’d take it next. I can
draft either the Javadoc note or a join implementation if you want one.
