Some of the options that were considered were: a) Making it C/C++ code rather than a script b) Adding code in ovs-vsctl to set the friendly name when we add a port to the conf.db. ovs-vsctl would have to take addition arguments for the VM name and the VNIC name. c) Getting ovs-vswitchd to set the friendly name. But, we'll have to modify the vswitchd schema for this.
