The kernel versions I tested on was 2.6.32-279.9.1.el6.x86_64 (CentOS 6.3) and 3.2.0-31-generic (Ubuntu 12.04), both with Open vSwitch 1.7.1 and master HEAD as of yesterday, with brcompat loaded. I didn't use namespaces. Ok, I'll make a try at 2.6.32 and network namespaces.
