Hi -

Being a PMC Member is not a special status, there are basically four
responsibilities.

(1) Making binding release votes. Those who test and vote on releases will be
noticed.

(2) Handling security issues which is necessarily private. The PMC may add
Committers to the Security Team. Many of our recent 4.1.x releases have been
driven by security concerns.

(3) Handling trademark issues which is also a private concern.

(4) Recognizing contributors and adding committers and PMC members to the
project. For AOO there is a challenge in recognizing contributions that happen
somewhere where the contribution is not visible on dev@openoffice.apache.org or
comm...@openoffice.apache.org. If a community member thinks the PMC needs to
recognize someone’s contribution then please email priv...@openoffice.apache.org

The PMC Chair has the additional responsibility of quarterly reports to The ASF
Board of Directors. The PMC helps the chair.

All The Best,
Dave
