Hello,

When I look at the installed DEB packages on my Ubuntu system (e.g. with
"dpkg -s openoffice") I see "Copyright: 2012 by The Apache Software
Foundation".

Looking at [1] and how it was handled at OpenOffice.org I think it
should be "2012-2018" now.
I would commit it to trunk this weekend if there are no reasons
against it.

What do you think?

just go ahead and add the 6 years for the moment. But Andrea's advise
seems a good one to finalize this adjustment.

Definitely!

Thinking about it, I also suspect that:
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/trunk/main/LICENSE_ALv2

should only be a copy of:
https://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0.txt

no, for me it just looks like a template. Please see the line "Copyright [yyyy] [name of copyright owner]" and the paragraph above. Here you can see a placeholder for the year. This cannot be the offical license but the (adjusted) copy in every project repo are.

I added 2018 only because "it was always done this way" ;-)

Thanks for the updates.

Marcus
