Java 8 was recently updated to 144. Maybe you can try OpenJDK?
I had installed u111 before the problem started. Updating just today to
u144 but with no change.
I don't think that changing to OpenJDK would help.
I've now done the following:
- renamed my user profile
- reinstalled OpenOffice
- deinstalled JRE 8u144
All starts inbetween the actions without any change.
PS:
I've tried to get OpenJDK but ended always with the JRE 8u144 from Oracle.

What do reports do you get if you start openoffice4 in a terminal?
I've already attached an strace report in a previous mail in this thread.
