yes, I've put this online to the blog yesterday but didn't mentioned it
until now.
That's all that is needed to keep the project alive. 1 happy user.
... and it is very likely that there are many, many more users than just
1 when we have millions of downloads. ;-)
I am sure they get out of concept.

Call it a marketing number...
That number is for those people who insist on their opinion that no one
ever downloads AOO and nobody uses it.
And believe me, there are people who repeat this since 2011 constantly! ;-)
BTW, a page should be up to date or it should be deleted. But never
outdated!

I'm not certain what the point of the aggregate count is, apart from it
being
a larger number. While pride is taken in it, it is not clear how
meaningful
it is.
The current rate of downloads averages out to around 3 million per month.
That was true for 4.1.1 and for 4.1.2. It is likely that 4.1.3 will
achieve a
comparable take-up.
But of course, this does not tell you how many users. In particular, we
don't
know what downloads are for new users and what downloads are for updates
(including re-downloading) by existing users.
Here's a recent summary:<https://s.apache.org/dxaX>
Although US destinations account for 16% of downloads, about 40% of all
downloads are of an English localization.

Answering myself... ;-)
The python-script on that page should be updated to include version
4.1.3. And I think it must be run manually for updated data.
The problem with the graphs is that both are defined with a height of
150px.
That's OK for the daily downloads, but at 160.000.000 total downloads
the graph is cut off in a flat line.
(We now must be at about 200.000.000 total downloads)

(P.S.: Downloads on scourceforge are close to half a million for 4.1.3)

Looking at the download counter on scourceforge :-), am I the only one
interested in an updated chart on:
http://www.openoffice.org/stats/downloads.html ?
BTW, I thing the graphic cuts off at 160.000.000...
