Now I'm stuck. I got through configure, with warnings. My build attempt failed with:

$ build --all
build -- version: 275224

When you have fixed the errors in that module you can resume the build by running:

        build --all:solenv

Any advice on e.g. configure warnings that are likely to be significant?

After a busy couple of months, I am back to trying to build AOO on
Windows 8.1. I am following
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Building_Guide_AOO/Step_by_step#Windows_7,

which seems to be the most up-to-date and relevant guide.

This time, rather than let myself get frustrated, I am going to document
any problems I hit as I go along.

Step: "Install Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7 and .NET Framework
3.5. SP1 (recommend by Microsoft)"

I did not see any option to download "setup.exe". The general download
button got me a file called "winsdk_web.exe", which I have run with
default settings.

Step: Optional: Get dbghelp.dll (for using the --enable-dbgutil
configure option)

This step contains the first mention of MS Visual Studio, but seems to
assume it is already installed. I do have a version of it installed, but
not the file dbghelp.dll.

Step: Use apt-cyg to install missing cygwin packages

One of the packages is "gcc4-g++". It is not in the current Cygwin
package list, and appears to be an obsolete name. See, for example,
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21105574/no-gcc4-in-cygwins-package-list

I have installed gcc-g++, which appears to be the current 32 bit
toolchain compiler.
