Hello all --

OpenOffice has been participating in FOSDEM for quite some
time. For the upcoming FOSDEM in 2016, the ASF will also be
participating. Because of the new ASF "stand" participation,
it has been suggested to request a set of tables -- one to
accommodate the ASF as a single entity, and additional
tables as needed for individual project participation.

The discussion thread on this has stared on
d...@community.apache.org if you want to take a look at that
list. Also, please see the wiki reference below for
additional details on what has been suggested.

Of course, as in the past, we will lend whatever support we
can to volunteers at FOSDEM. Please express your interest so
this can be coordinated with the ASF plans for FOSDEM.

Thanks.

Indeedy, I was notified by FOSDEM staff about this, and will
note that
the ASF has formally requested a stand at FOSDEM 2016.

Time will tell what sort of stand we'll get (how big etc),
but we should
plan ahead and _assume_ we'll get two tables (might get one,
might get
three, but let's assume two).

This will require 3-4 volunteers at most times (not to speak
of endless
amounts of swag to give away), so I would imagine we'd need
at least
double that in available people, so as to do it in shifts.

Depending on the number of projects that are interested in a
presence at
FOSDEM, we'll likely do a rotation, so that each project get
N hours of
fame at the stand. FOSDEM has notified us that they are
really limited
on space this time around, due to the huge interest in this
from FOSS
communities, so if we can help them by rotating a bit, that
would work
out for everyone. Having been to previous FOSDEMs, I can
also say with
some certainty, that you won't risk getting the "boring time
slot", as
the stands are pretty much always crowded.

With regards,
Daniel.
