Forwarding in case Darren isn't subscribed. And I see now that my reference below to 30 years should have been somewhat less, but still many years. That's what I get for reading only the title of a message. Francis

To: dev@openoffice.apache.org Hi Darren, Really, what is the probability that a spreadsheet program that has roots going back 30 years can't add correctly? Could the program survive with that kind of flaw? I understand that it isn't doing what you expect and over at the user forum we would be happy to help straighten out the problem. The fact that a formula works one way in Excel and another in Calc is not evidence that either is wrong. For example, the two programs differ in their willingness to silently convert text to numbers. This commonly leads to Excel users being surprised by a calculation in Calc and, I suppose, Calc users being surprised by Excel. Neither approach is "right"; each expresses a choice about balancing user convenience and the risk of miscalculations. Your problem may be along those lines or may be totally different. If you post an example on the forum, we can probably quickly find the problem.
