The specific project I was thinking about seems to be lacking in the needed mix of mentors at the moment. We do have a listing of "easy" and "simple" hacks from our development orientation page: http://openoffice.apache.org/orientation/intro-development.html Feel free to take a look at these, and get involved by fixing some of these issues if you like. We have quite a number of Ubuntu builders who can answer questions on this list.
