Hi Rajesh, welcome at Apache OpenOffice and it good to hear that you are interested to help.
On [1] you can find some information that is interesting for new volunteers. You are interested in development and that means that you need a working build environment to build modules on your own, with debug information etc. I would suggest that you focus on setting up a build environment first and ask question here on list if the documentation under [2] is not enough, incomplete, outdated or or you find other problems. OpenOffice has a huge code base but that is normal for such huge programs. Don't be shy and ask questions whenever you need help. Any question is valid and it helps to find your way faster in the code. Once you have a working build environment it make sense to pick one certain area where you are interested or where you find an interesting issue that you want to analyze and dive deeper into the related code. That can be an interesting adventure becasue the code is a mix of old and new code written by many different people. It's grown over years and it simply takes some time to get started. But the good news is that all developers are cooking with water only and that means that it is no rocket science, it simply takes tie to get familiar with the code. But again feel free to ask questions here on the list and welcome on board Juergen [1] http://openoffice.apache.org/orientation/index.html [2] https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Building_Guide_AOO n 08/08/14 00:59, Rajesh Galla wrote: > Hi all, > I am Information Systems graduate from BITS-Pilani,India. > I just passed out of my University. > I've been learning C since 3 years, and Data Structures since 1 year. > I have experience in Java during my 5 month Internship. > I would like to contribute to this open source project, full time till > november and part time, thereafter, since nov 1st is my joining date in > Hikari Tsushin,Tokyo. > I've attached my resume for reference. > > Please let me know which area I can contribute to, how to get started > with dev setup and what all i need to know to contribute effectively for > the project. > This is the first time I'm working on any Open-Source Project. > > Thank you for the long read. > Galla Rajesh Babu. > > > > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org > For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@openoffice.apache.org > --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@openoffice.apache.org
