This is a known problem, unfortunately. It has already been discussed on this dev list and we are mostly aware of steps that would fix (or work around) it. But this is part of a larger maintenance currently under discussion and hopefully to be implemented at the beginning of 2014.

I can create mwiki accounts skippings the Cats and Dogs test. I created an account named "swhupp" for you. You should receive an activation link or anyway you should be able to reset your password at https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Special:PasswordReset
Please let us know if this worked, so that we can temporarily use manual account activation when users report that registration is not working for them.
