Kathleen,

it looks like you emailed the developers list rather than the users list; oops.

http://openoffice.apache.org/mailing-lists.html

If you cannot find the correct list, let us know.

That said. I have seen this before, and the solution is probably operating system dependent. I use Linux, not Windows, so I might be a bit fuzzy on this, sorry. Probably have more responses on the users list

I will assume Windows 7:

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del
Open the task manager
I think that the first tab is processes and the second might be threads (or something). Look for something named "soffice" in both. Highlight it and click on a button that will close or kill it. Again, i am on a Linux box so I cannot just check the wording.

My guess is that there is a process running for openoffice that has a problem and you cannot start a new one while that "hung" process (or thread) is running.

I hope this was at least a little helpful.

I do not have a multi-user system & no other OpenOffice is opened. Also clicked
OpenOffice
3.4.1 & 4.0.0 folders & when I click setup file I get the same message.
Also, my system is not accepting the apache 4 download.
Please HELP!!!!! Thank you KS
