how about the suggestion to buy a code signing certificate (they are typical 
valid for 2 years) from our still existing budget to bridge the time until we 
have ASF wide working and established signing process. My guessing is that it 
will take longer to agree on a general approach. But I will try to restart the 
discussion again...
