Hello Michael; Updating those libraries is a bit of a task.
For the hsqldb update you would need to start looking at the code here: http://hg.services.openoffice.org/cws/hsqldb19/ For Lucene (which I updated) you need to fix the long_path patch so that it applies to the new Lucene version. Updating stuff is good way to learn about OpenOffice (I started that way). If you want an easy task, update libxslt. Pedro.
